Real RV Experience
Years of maintaining, repairing, modifying, renting, and camping with RVs provide context that goes beyond installing components.
About Utah RV Power
Utah RV Power was created to help RV owners build electrical systems around real-world use instead of one-size-fits-all kits.
Owner & system designer
Decades of hands-on experience across RVs, trailers, electrical systems, fabrication, construction, troubleshooting, and technology.
Glenn and his wife spent six years managing and renting travel trailers, with Glenn handling the maintenance, repairs, modifications, electrical work, solar upgrades, fabrication, and major projects himself. That work ranged from bearings, brakes, wiring, lighting, seals, and interior electrical systems to custom welding and a complete RV roof replacement.
His background also includes RV dealership solar consulting and installation support, utility-trailer wiring and fabrication, automotive 12V installation, mechanical work, general contracting, boat rewiring, building systems evaluation, and IT troubleshooting.
Solar work has ranged from simple battery-maintenance systems to complete off-grid builds, including a 48V system with roughly 1,000 watts of solar and about 10 kWh of custom lithium storage. He has also personally installed residential solar systems while working with local cities and code officials.
That broad hands-on experience helps Glenn look at the entire RV power system—not just individual components—and design, install, and troubleshoot systems that work together reliably.
More than solar panels
A reliable off-grid system depends on how every component works together—not how impressive any one specification looks.
Battery chemistry and BMS limits, inverter demand, wire sizing and voltage drop, overcurrent protection, charging sources, solar harvest, physical installation, and actual appliance use all affect performance. Glenn's background across electrical, mechanical, fabrication, construction, and technology helps him evaluate the RV as a complete system.
Years of maintaining, repairing, modifying, renting, and camping with RVs provide context that goes beyond installing components.
12V electrical, trailer wiring, fabrication, mechanical work, construction, solar, and IT all contribute to practical problem solving.
You should understand what the finished system can realistically run, approximately how long it can run it, and how it recharges.
Why off-grid matters
Camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, boating, and time outdoors are a big part of why off-grid capability matters.
The point of a power system is not the equipment itself. It is what that equipment lets you do when you are away from hookups. Utah RV Power designs around that experience first.
You do not need to become an electrical engineer to own a capable off-grid RV. The technical work belongs behind the scenes; the finished system should be understandable, usable, and built around your goals.
